After leaving his Grandfather's home, Typewryter spent three years traveling. He met Munin one year into that journey. But there was another.... Somepony that Typewryter has never told anypony about. A pegasus named Windy Ride, who Typewryter met a few wekks after Munin. They traveled together for almost a year, and during that time, their bond of friendship grew strong. But one day, as the two traveled through the Equestrain Desert, they were attacked by a pack of very hungry Griffons. They fought as hard as they could, but eventually, a griffon landed a lucky strike and crippled Windy's wings. Unable to fly, she was quickly pinned. The three griffons were distracted, and Type had a chance to strike...
He ran. He ran as fast as he could and left her to die.
He has never forgiven himself for his cowardice, and now lives every day of his life with the determination to do what is right before anything else. He is obsessed with the code of chivalry, which he sees as a way to reclaim the honor that he lost. Because of this incident, Typewryter believes that he does not deserve to live, and that he only does so that he may do good, in the hopes of giving his life value.
A recent encounter with Al Capony and the aid of his friends, plus reconciliation with his grandfather have changed his views.
Though he still believes that his life is given value only by his actions, he now believes that he needs to live for what is right, rather than die for it. He has also realised that his friends love him, and that his life has value to them because of that love; to die would take that away from them, something that Typewryter views as dishonorable.Typewryter still refuses to forgive himself for his cowardice, but has faith that if he lives an honorable life, Windy will forgive him in the afterlife.
