Anonymous- I think I get your point. What you're saying is you want some more mature conflicts, perhaps situations targeted towards the older portion of the fanbase? Nothing excessive or lewd, mind you, but perhaps some drama that an older fan would understand and enjoy more than the standard situation of the week we got with season one?
Yeah, that's about right. But I'm not saying it has to be more mature, because I don't expect Hasbro forget their target audience. (And I wouldn't want them to.)
What I'm trying to say is that I hope there's an episode that has the "life happens" kind of theme going on. (Slice of life, I guess? You get what I'm saying.)
Some examples:
-Maybe a major fight happens between two friends, which somehow leads to the two of them learning more about each other and their pasts. (Which would most likely lead to them becoming closer.)
-(highly unlikely) Somepony close to a main character gets very sick or maybe even dies. An episode could be focused on helping that character get through the situation.

Granted, episodes like that may be sad, but also heartwarming at times. And they don't even have to be sad, they just have to portray an even that's a little more realistic, or closer to home. (Though, I see that many episodes deliberately try not to do that, or over exaggerate many situations.)
I'd also see an episode like that as an opportunity to give a character (or multiple characters) more depth (if that would be a good thing).
And I know it's a show aimed towards younger viewers, and you may be right that these ideas could seem a little mature for them, but I think something along those lines (not necessarily my examples) could be appropriate in an episode. (I think that once in a while, a "big kid" moral
